Each project brings with it a new client, a new budget, a new site and new functional requirements. These new variables ensure that each project is entirely unique, and that any new building is tailored directly to its new owners’ wants and needs.I believe there is a great benefit to creating connections between the interior of a building and it’s natural surroundings. In each project I aim to connect the interior and exterior spaces. A design solution that is tailored to the specific requirements of a site ensures interesting and dynamic outcomes on difficult sites, sloping sites or sites with trees. Each building becomes a reflection of its unique site and is enriched by its own characteristics. I believe in creating beautiful structures, but am convinced that beautiful architecture grows out of the creation of functional and affordable buildings. Each restraint informs the architecture and is important to the way each building is resolved. Architecture must also respond to the environmental conditions of its site. Advanced modelling software now allow analysis of air flow, solar heating and energy efficiency. By taking advantage of software it is possible to make informed environmental decisions and create a building that not only works functionally, but is energy efficient and pleasant to inhabit.
